At Seniors Helping Seniors® Jupiter and all of Martin County, we have a passion for meeting the needs of seniors in a way that provides both dignity and a sense of camaraderie. Our owner(s) Walter E Gwinn III, Rita Gwinn firmly believe we can do that through serving seniors in our community, which includes: Martin County & Jupiter Florida.
Walter and Rita Gwinn, owners of Seniors Helping Seniors® in-home services throughout Jupiter and Martin County, Florida have an intimate understanding of senior care. They cared for Walter’s father in his later years. During the last months of his life, he required around the clock in-home care in addition to hospice support. “We were so blessed to find such caring individuals to care for my father. One senior caregiver, stayed with my father for 3-1/2 years. She truly made a difference in his life,” shared Walter.
Because of their experience caring for Walter’s father, Walter and Rita were inspired to help other seniors in their community who are in need of loving, compassionate care. “We learned that seniors provided the best care and once we learned about Seniors Helping Seniors services, we knew we had found our mission,” said Rita.
Seniors Helping Seniors in-home care matches seniors who want to help with seniors who need a little help. This peer-to-peer assistance allows seniors in need to receive care from someone they can truly trust. At the same time, seniors who want to help are able to remain active in their community, and often times form lasting relationships with the seniors for whom they provide care.
“Our goal is to provide the same type of support for others that we received when Walter’s father was sick, we want to be a source of strength for our fellow community members who need a helping hand,” Rita continued.
The senior providers who work with Walter and Rita offer many services including:
· Dementia/Alzheimer’s Support
· Household chores
· Meal preparation
· Local Transportation
· Overnight care
· Pet care
· Help with bill paying
· Medication Reminders
“To have a caregiver that a senior can truly bond with makes a huge difference in the care,” shares Rita. “My father-in-law truly loved his senior caregiver. They had a very special relationship.”
Walter is a native Floridian and Rita is a transplant from Boston. They have two daughters who help with the family business. They attend Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
Walter and Rita Gwinn also volunteer and raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Association and since 2014 have raised over $12,000 for the Alzheimer’s Association. Walter has been the top fund raiser for the Alzheimer’s Association of the Treasure Coast for 2 years running.
